Community Guidelines

These Community Guidelines & Acceptable Use Policy ("Guidelines") apply to participation in the Sona community, including use of the Sona website, creator applications and auditions, communications with Sona, creator programs and initiatives, and, when available, the future Sona platform and its related services.

These Guidelines supplement and form part of our Terms of Service.

Sona is currently developing its immersive audio platform. Some features referenced in these Guidelines, including creator publishing tools, accounts, monetization features, in-app interactions, and reporting tools, may not yet be available.

By accessing or using Sona's Services or participating in the Sona community, you agree to follow these Guidelines.

Our Core Principles

Sona is being built as a respectful, inclusive, and creative space where voice actors, scriptwriters, audio engineers, visual artists, other creators, and listeners can connect through a shared passion for storytelling and sound.

We believe creators should have the freedom to explore their creativity while respecting the safety, privacy, boundaries, creative rights, and dignity of others.

Sona welcomes a wide range of creative expression, including SFW content and adult or NSFW content intended exclusively for adults. Creators are not required to create adult content to participate in Sona.

Creative freedom does not extend to conduct or content that exploits, threatens, harasses, deceives, intentionally targets, or harms others.

Our goal is to foster a community where creators can focus on their craft, audiences can discover meaningful work, and people can participate without being subjected to harassment, intimidation, exploitation, or unnecessary hostility.

Prohibited Content and Behavior

You may not use Sona's Services or participate in the Sona community to post, upload, publish, transmit, share, distribute, request, encourage, facilitate, coordinate, or engage in prohibited content or conduct described below.

1. Content Involving Minors

Sona has zero tolerance for the sexualization or exploitation of minors.

Any sexual, sexually suggestive, exploitative, or otherwise inappropriate sexual content involving or depicting anyone under the age of 18, whether real or fictional, is prohibited.

Users and creators may not create, upload, submit, request, distribute, promote, solicit, or engage with prohibited sexual content involving minors through Sona.

Violations may result in immediate removal from Sona and may be reported to appropriate authorities or organizations when required or permitted by law.

2. Prohibited Sexual, Non-Consensual, Exploitative, or Illegal Content

For all sexual or NSFW content, every character participating in sexual activity must be 18 years of age or older, and all sexual activity must be consensual.

Content involving or depicting incest, bestiality, sexual violence, non-consensual sexual activity, sexual exploitation, human trafficking, or other serious sexual harm is prohibited, whether real or fictional.

Sona may establish additional restrictions on adult or NSFW content to comply with applicable law, safety requirements, payment-provider requirements, hosting requirements, app marketplace policies, or other obligations.

Content or conduct that promotes, glorifies, facilitates, solicits, coordinates, or meaningfully encourages real-world harm or illegal activity is also prohibited.

3. Hate Speech, Harassment, Stalking, and Targeted Abuse

Attacks based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or other characteristics protected by applicable law are prohibited.

Targeted harassment, bullying, credible threats, intimidation, stalking, or persistent unwanted monitoring or contact involving another creator, applicant, user, Sona team member, or community member is prohibited.

This includes encouraging, organizing, or participating in coordinated harassment or attempts to intentionally damage another person's safety, reputation, livelihood, relationships, creative opportunities, or standing within the community.

Public or coordinated campaigns intended to shame, intimidate, isolate, ostracize, harass, threaten, or incite hostility toward another individual may violate these Guidelines.

This may include using social media posts, comments, videos, livestreams, private messages, group chats, Discord servers, forums, or other online communities or platforms to recruit others to target an individual, interfere with their professional opportunities, encourage harassment, or cause other meaningful reputational or social harm.

Disagreement or criticism alone does not constitute harassment. Sona may consider context, severity, frequency, intent, credible evidence, and patterns of behavior when determining whether conduct violates these Guidelines.

4. False Allegations, Malicious Reporting, and Retaliation

Sona encourages good-faith reporting of conduct that may violate these Guidelines.

Users should not knowingly present fabricated evidence or knowingly false allegations as fact for the purpose of harming another person.

Knowingly submitting false or malicious reports, fabricating or intentionally manipulating evidence, coordinating abusive mass reports, or using Sona's reporting processes to harass, retaliate against, intimidate, or intentionally damage another person's standing within the community is prohibited.

Reports made in good faith will not result in penalties solely because an allegation cannot ultimately be substantiated.

Submitting a report does not establish that a violation occurred. Sona will consider available information, relevant evidence, context, and other appropriate factors before reaching an enforcement decision.

Where appropriate and consistent with safety considerations, individuals accused of misconduct may be given a reasonable opportunity to respond or provide relevant information before a final decision is made.

5. Spam, Scams, Fraud, and Deceptive Activity

Spam, phishing, scams, fraudulent activity, deceptive practices, or attempts to obtain money, credentials, personal information, content, services, or other benefits through deception are prohibited.

You may not use Sona to intentionally mislead others about financial opportunities, creator opportunities, affiliations, sponsorships, employment, partnerships, or other relationships.

When Sona introduces creator monetization or commercial features, transactions and solicitations may be subject to additional requirements established by Sona.

6. Impersonation and Misrepresentation

You may not impersonate another creator, applicant, user, Sona employee or representative, public figure, organization, or other person or entity in a manner intended or reasonably likely to deceive others.

You may not falsely represent your identity, affiliation with Sona, authority to speak on behalf of another person or organization, professional credentials, or ownership of another creator's work.

Creators selected to participate in Sona may accurately describe their relationship with Sona, but may not represent themselves as employees, representatives, partners, agents, or official spokespersons of Sona unless expressly authorized to do so.

7. Intellectual Property Infringement

Respect the creative work of others.

You may not submit, upload, publish, distribute, sell, license, or otherwise use content that you do not own or have the necessary rights, licenses, permissions, releases, or authorizations to use.

This includes scripts, recordings, performances, music, sound effects, artwork, illustrations, photographs, designs, trademarks, and other materials owned by third parties.

Creators are responsible for ensuring they have the necessary rights and permissions for materials included in work they submit to or create for Sona.

Submitting material to Sona as part of an application or audition does not transfer ownership of that material to Sona except as otherwise expressly agreed in writing, as described in our Terms of Service.

8. Malicious Activity and Platform Abuse

You may not attempt to hack, damage, disrupt, overload, interfere with, scrape, reverse-engineer, circumvent, manipulate, or otherwise misuse Sona's website, future platform, security features, systems, forms, databases, or technology.

Attempts to gain unauthorized access to accounts, applications, creator materials, personal information, payment information, systems, or restricted features are prohibited.

You may not use automated systems, bots, scripts, or other technologies to manipulate engagement, artificially inflate metrics, interfere with functionality, abuse application or reporting systems, or collect information in violation of these Guidelines, our Terms of Service, or applicable law.

9. Doxxing, Privacy Violations, and Personal Information

You may not publish, distribute, threaten to disclose, or encourage others to disclose another person's private or sensitive personal information without authorization.

This may include home addresses, private telephone numbers, personal email addresses, financial information, government identification information, private communications, precise location information, or other information that could reasonably expose someone to harassment, fraud, stalking, intimidation, or physical harm.

Private communications, screenshots, recordings, photographs, application materials, or other private materials should not be shared in a manner that violates another person's reasonable expectation of privacy or applicable law.

You may not use information obtained through Sona to stalk, harass, intimidate, exploit, or target another person.

Creator-Specific Standards

Creators participating in Sona are expected to maintain professional and respectful conduct when interacting with Sona, fellow creators, collaborators, and members of the community.

Creators are responsible for ensuring they have all necessary rights, licenses, releases, permissions, and authorizations for scripts, performances, audio, music, sound effects, artwork, photographs, designs, and other materials they submit or distribute through Sona.

Creators are not required to produce NSFW content. Sona welcomes creators interested in SFW content, NSFW content where permitted, or both.

Adult or NSFW content must comply with Sona's content requirements and, when publishing functionality becomes available, must be accurately categorized, labeled, and tagged.

Creators may not intentionally misrepresent the nature of their content to circumvent age restrictions, content filters, moderation systems, safety measures, or other safeguards.

Sona may not be used to advertise, solicit, arrange, facilitate, or offer real-world sexual services.

Creators must respect the intellectual property, privacy, consent, boundaries, and creative rights of other creators and members of the community.

Selection for a creator opportunity does not exempt anyone from these Guidelines.

Professional and Collaborative Conduct

Sona is intended to provide creators with an environment where they can focus on creativity, collaboration, and professional growth.

Creative disagreements, differences in style, criticism, or interpersonal conflicts may occur. We expect community members to handle disagreements respectfully and avoid escalating ordinary conflicts into harassment, retaliation, public targeting, or coordinated campaigns.

When safe and appropriate, interpersonal disagreements should be addressed directly and privately between the individuals involved. Matters involving potential violations of these Guidelines should be reported to Sona through the appropriate reporting process rather than escalated through public or coordinated retaliation.

Participation in Sona does not require creators or users to maintain personal relationships with one another. Everyone has the right to establish reasonable personal and professional boundaries.

Reporting Concerns

As the Sona platform develops, additional reporting tools may become available.

When submitting a report, please provide relevant information and available supporting materials that may help us evaluate the concern fairly and accurately.

Submitting a report does not itself establish that a violation occurred.

Sona may review available evidence, relevant context, communications, account or application activity where applicable, and other information reasonably necessary to evaluate the matter.

Reports made in good faith are encouraged.

Knowingly submitting false or malicious reports, fabricating or intentionally manipulating evidence, coordinating abusive mass reports, or using Sona's reporting process as a means of harassment or retaliation is prohibited.

Enforcement and Consequences

Sona may take reasonable action when we determine that content or conduct violates these Guidelines, our Terms of Service, another applicable Sona policy or agreement, or applicable law.

Because Sona is currently in development, available enforcement measures will depend on the Services or programs involved.

Actions may include:

issuing a warning or notice;
rejecting or discontinuing a creator application or audition;
removing an individual from a creator program, collaboration, promotional opportunity, or other Sona initiative;
restricting access to Sona websites, forms, communities, or services;
removing or restricting content where applicable;
restricting future Platform features or monetization privileges when available;
temporarily suspending or permanently terminating an account when account functionality becomes available;
terminating a creator relationship where permitted by the applicable agreement; or
reporting conduct to appropriate authorities when required or permitted by law.

The action taken may depend on the nature, severity, frequency, and context of the violation, as well as relevant prior conduct.

Sona may take immediate protective action without prior warning when conduct presents a serious safety risk or involves exploitation of minors, credible threats, stalking, severe or coordinated harassment, fraud, malicious activity, or other serious violations.

Where appropriate, Sona may provide a person whose conduct has been reported with an opportunity to respond or provide relevant information before a final enforcement decision is made.

However, Sona may take temporary protective measures while a matter is being reviewed when reasonably necessary to protect creators, users, applicants, team members, the community, or Sona.

Off-Platform Conduct

Sona generally does not seek to police creators' or users' personal lives or unrelated activity outside Sona.

However, in limited circumstances, we may consider relevant off-platform conduct when there is a meaningful connection to Sona or a significant risk to our community.

This may include conduct that:

directly targets a Sona creator, applicant, user, or team member because of their participation in Sona;
involves threats, stalking, doxxing, or severe or coordinated harassment of members of the Sona community;
uses information obtained through Sona to target or harm another person;
is directly connected to activity occurring through Sona; or
creates a credible and meaningful risk to the safety or integrity of the Sona community.

We will consider context and available evidence when determining whether off-platform conduct warrants action.

Appeals

If Sona takes an enforcement action against you and you believe the decision was made in error, you may contact hello@sonaaudios.com to request a review.

Your request should include relevant information or supporting materials that you believe were not considered in the original decision.

Sona will review eligible requests in good faith. Submission of a request for review does not guarantee that an enforcement decision will be reversed.

Abuse of the review process, including threats, harassment, knowingly false statements, fabricated evidence, or repeated submissions intended to disrupt the process, may result in additional restrictions.

Changes to These Guidelines

We may update these Guidelines from time to time as Sona develops, our community grows, new features become available, or our legal, safety, operational, or platform requirements change.

When appropriate or required by applicable law, we may provide notice of material changes.

The updated Guidelines will identify their effective or "Last Updated" date.

Your continued use of the applicable Services after updated Guidelines become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Guidelines to the extent permitted by applicable law.
